Ray Cortopassi's Last Day
Today marks field anchor Ray Cortopassi's last day at WRTV.
A short message earlier this week informed staff that Cortopassi's contract was set to expire at the end of the month and that he would be leaving the station.
Cortopassi got bumped from the anchor desk last year when WRTV brought in "Todd and Trisha" to do the evening news.
If the "powers" at WRTV every read these comments - just wanted you to know that I stopped watching WRTV and switched to WISH (channel 8) when Ray Cortopassi was removed from the evening news. He was so much better than your current "team".

Ray is a great person to work with. He's always had a smile, even through the difficult past year. It's a shame he got dragged down by Martha.
He will be a great addition and find more success wherever he lands.

Get Real: You are certainly entitled to your opinion. I was merely reporting fact. And, as an FYI, most talent contract contracts have non-compete clauses which keep the person from appearing on-air for any competing media for a year or so. WRTV was kind enough to invoke that clause after they screwed Bob McClain and Bob could not even take a part time radio job to support himself. For the record...Ray is a good person. As someone who had to work with the other person, my statements stand.

i read somewhere that martha suffered a miscarriage and that she wanted to be close to her family...martha was top class and its getting pretty ridculous seeing in all of these boards saying that she was fired because she was overweight and she ate a lot...i'm very sad to see Ray leave. He was THE best thing for 6. he always stopped by my job (starbucks at 15th and capitol) and he was so down to earth and he has that loving personality. i know that ray will do well at whatever he decides to do next. hopefully 8 or 13 will notice his professionalism and decide to hire him, so he won't move out of town.

Nick...I worked there and knew the woman. And believe me when I say that she is a product of the consultant school...it was all about how she appeared on air. And from the ribcage up. She, unfortunately, put on a huge amount of weight. In tv news, really large people, especially women, are not on an upward career path. Sad, but true. It's the same reason you rarely see unattractive people on your local news teams. They are selected by looks and acting ability, not journalistic talent.

No offense taken, trust me. But you must have seen something I didn't. Martha was top of the class.
How did she "eat her way out of a job"? She may have been overweight, but that just proves she's human.
What do you think of Todd and Trisha?

No offense meant Nick, however Martha was a self centered product of the Magid school of anchors, never a journalist and managed to eat her way out of a job.

Channel 6 was just fine with Ray and Martha. Todd and Trisha took those time slots and pushed them down the garbage disposal.
Thank God they haven't been able to touch Good Morning Indiana.

This is a real shame, though not unexpected. Ray seems to have done a good job in spite of the fact he was demoted in public and replaced by some questionable "talent." It is no surprise that this news operation languishes in the ratings cellar. The management there appears to treat loyalty and competency with contempt.
