Readers React To Ellsworth Photos And To The Newspaper That Published 'Em

NewspaperAs something of a counterpoint to Josh Claybourn's column below, the Evansville paper (registration required) ran a series of letters that brought up some good points. On the outraged side of the issue, the anger seems about evenly divided between Claybourn and the newspaper itself. Here are a few excerpts:

"Shame on Claybourn for attempting to drag the family of Brad Ellsworth into an election campaign.Just as important, shame on the Evansville Courier & Press for treating his attempt as a newsworthy event."

"I had a pleasant experience yesterday. While I was getting back to my car in Schnucks' parking lot, the man in a pickup truck next to me was getting into his truck. He looked at my 'Brad Ellsworth for Congress' bumper sticker and said, 'You know, I've never in my life put a bumper sticker on my vehicle, but after what happened with the attack on his daughter the other day, I'm going to get one of those and put it on my truck.'"

"Congressional candidates John Hostettler and Brad Ellsworth are both extremely good and intelligent men. I have more issues with this newspaper than the relative's behavior."

"So your view is 'Leave it alone; it's a family matter'? Really. I find it pathetic that you would lecture one of Rep. John Hostettler's supporters to leave this alone just two days after you put it on the front page of your newspaper."
