Call me a cynic, but me wonders how much of the BP outrage is actual outrage over the increased pollution -- as opposed to another opportunity by the Region's Democrat Machine to take yet another swipe at Mitchie Boy's Administration. Crocodile Tears?

Vlad: this is a thread about spooge, not sludge. Stay on topic!

Vlad,

I assume you meant to post that elsewhere, but to answer your question, I don't think U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk considers himself a Democrat.

Now, back on topic.

Congratulations to TDW! Jennifer has found a plethora of "news stories" to divert attention from an actual, documented criminal investigation...one that no doubt hits a little too close to home for the Blog Mistress: The State Police investigation of the illegal charges put on an Indiana Democratic State Committee credit card.

The investigation, which was recently written-up in Jenny's favorite paper - The Indy Star - tells the tale of stolen funds, credit card fraud, and the big question...where did the money go?

Much like the typical smoke and mirrors for which one Jennifer Wagner is so well known in the Blogosphere, we may never know how exactly she was/is involved in the reported crimes.

At least we know that Jennifer will be busy as a little bee dumpster-diving for "news" about her despised Republicans...(at least until the the IN Demo Party crime wave clears.)

Back on topic, indeed. How is this guy not charged with rape? If a woman woke up to a simliar situation, I think it'd be rape. Why would it be any different for a man? I await the advise of any 'glowing' law school grads.

Rape in Indiana is only possible for people of different genders...

"The investigation, which was recently written-up in Jenny's favorite paper - The Indy Star - tells the tale of stolen funds, credit card fraud, and the big question...where did the money go?"

We're cooperating fully with the Marion County Prosecutor in the criminal proceeding, and we've turned over all of our records to them. Ms. Bostic has a hearing scheduled next week. (Did you really not notice that I was quoted in that Star article you referenced? We've got nothing to hide.)

Not sure where you're coming up with this stuff, but it's fun to watch you spin out of control on an issue that has nothing to do with politics.

For your reference, Democratic Sycamore:

IC 35-42-4-1
Rape
Sec. 1. (a) Except as provided in subsection (b), a person who knowingly or intentionally has sexual intercourse with a member of the opposite sex when:
(1) the other person is compelled by force or imminent threat of force;
(2) the other person is unaware that the sexual intercourse is occurring; or
(3) the other person is so mentally disabled or deficient that consent to sexual intercourse cannot be given;
commits rape, a Class B felony.

Sycamore,

From the legal side, this is non-consensual sexual contact; that sounds like rape to me. The statute could require some attempt to penetrate the victim, I suppose, such that oral sex may only qualify as sexual assault. I have no idea, just tossing out my thoughts.

Ask the question as a social rather than a legal issue: Could you imagine Indiana's legislature crafting the rape statute such that heterosexual rape carries more severe penalties than homosexual rape, on the basis of old white Hoosier men thinking that equalizing the penalties somehow validates gay sex?

"Not sure where you're coming up with this stuff, but it's fun to watch you spin out of control on an issue that has nothing to do with politics." - TDW

Nothing to do with politics? Ha, that's a good one coming from you.

Seems like this is a law that needs revising in the 21st century to exclude the line "with a member of the opposite sex". It reads just fine as "intentionally has sexual intercourse when"

Speaking of non-consensual sex: didn't Lot's daughters get their old man drunk and somehow get impregnated by him? Maybe Murphy will use a Biblical defense?

10:46 - - But would oral sex be considered 'intercourse?' According to state law, what is 'intercourse?'

Pitiful, Jen.

Bart's the story, and he's getting beaten up, due in part to your clumsy efforts.

In case Rudy doesn't understand the story, State Party is not being investigated for misuse of funds, one of their employees is being investigated. The investigation was asked for BY STATE PARTY, not against them. There is a huge difference!

If someone robs my house and I call the police, I am not being investigated for home burglary.

Man, the Republicans are DESPERATE to change the story, aren't they?

"...State Party is not being investigated for misuse of funds, one of their employees is being investigated."

Former employee.

Wow, Jen, you've made Wonkette!

I can die happy now, Older Than Dirt.

snippet from Wonkette:

>>It is Mr. Murphy’s position, according to his lawyer, that “what occurred, occurred between two consenting adults,” one of whom just happened to be asleep at the time. This is at least a better defense than the other one he was considering, that he was terrified into performing the blowjob because the sleeping victim was scary and black. Oh, by the way, Glenn was charged with Sexual Battery for doing this exact same thing in 1998 (this victim’s girlfriend was in the same room!). So he was, of course, the natural choice to head the Young Republicans.<<

IC 35-42-4-1
Rape(Revised)
Sec. 1. (a) Except as provided in subsection (b), a person who knowingly or intentionally has sexual intercourse with a person or beast:
(1) the other person and/or beast is compelled by force or imminent threat of force;
(2) the other person and/or beast is unaware that the sexual intercourse is occurring; or
(3) the other person and/or beast is so mentally disabled or deficient that consent to sexual intercourse cannot be given;
(4) the other person and/or beast awakens suddenly to find his or her gentles in the mouth of a Young Republican Chairman;
commits rape, a Class B felony.

Has anyone seen this in the star yet?

Just ignore that fool that keeps posting crap. He'll leave once no one pays attention to him. He's just sad that he doesn't have or can't afford his own blog.

Was Murphy supporting Brownback or Huckabee for the presidential nod

Has anyone asked Todd Rokita what he thinks about this story since he went to Las Vegas to give the nomination speech for him as Chair of the Young Republican National Forum. I wonder if Mike Sodrel has any thoughts since he paid him more than $10K during his last campaign.

To be fair to the Republicans who have been professionally involved in the past with Murphy, they probably didn't know he was gay. For whatever reason, when they realize they're gay, Republicans tend to hide the fact.

This guy isn't gay. That would be giving a bad name to gay men. He is a sexual predator who happens to prey on men.

And to be fair to other Republicans, even if they knew or suspected he was gay, they ignored it. What the other Republicans didn't know was his alleged propensity for non-consensual cocksucking...

Aside from the tragedy of the victim and his family, we need to also get past the gay part. Yes, I know he was a very vocal basher of gays and lesbians, but this is more than just about a closet homosexual. This guy commits non-consentual (sp.?) sex acts. Gay or straight, this is rape. And in my book that's the most heinous part.

I truly feel sorry for the victim. Musta been hard enough to make out the report, let alone endure the obvious smear that Murphy's inept lawyer is going to try and put him through.

I agree with 1:10.

Look, it's long been my contention that there should be a board of approval on who gets to claim they are gay. For instance, the former governor of NJ claiming to be a "gay-American." Get real, no one wants you, dude.

And frankly, real (unafraid, unabashed) gay men are more than capable of getting sex without having to suck a sleeping stranger.

America - land of sex-o-phobia! Ok it's not as clever as Wilson's "consentual cock-sucking" comment, but it's still pretty accurate.

How long will it take the Star to finally cover this story?

The real issue here is that homosexuality needs to be made illegal.

Incidents like this prove that homosexuality is depraved, and that Miller's anti-gay marriage amendment is needed to keep two people who practice this sick act on each other from getting married and having the State sanction this sick conduct.

Homosexuality is harshly illegal in Iran and North Korea - in America our Supreme Court has ruled it's perfectly legal. You can choose where you live if you want to get away from homosexuality...

Ah, my favorite stir-the-pot troll drops by to spew some hate and run off.

What, no personal insults this time?

Not to make too fine a point of it 2:52, but the real issue here is sex without consent. By your logic, we should therefore make all sex illegal. The Shakers tried it and we all know where that got them .... gone!

Oh, Wonkette, you make me laugh! My sides are killing me!

Good thing he was never invited to sleep in the Lincoln Bedroom at the White House!!!

I heard today that Mt. Murphy had engaged in similar acts with a member of the Daniels staff....

Quit spreading rumors.

It's amusing to read the "dumpster diving" comments from Republicans sniffing indignantly that we have more important things to talk about than sexual indiscretions...I don't recall many of them saying that in Lewinsky days do you?

BTW, IFI's blog at www.veritasrex.com has finally commented on this incident.
